How necessary is theological German?
For anyone planning to enroll in a biblical or theological studies PhD program, theological German is an inevitable prerequisite. In very rare cases, different languages can be substituted, where the research project makes that desirable.

Some study theological German with us because they need to fulfill the necessary entry requirement. Others want to take it a step further, either for more serious ongoing use in scholarship, or for non-academic use, such as travel or enjoyment of literature. We provide levels of teaching for all kinds of linguistic interests.

After completion of the relevant courses, students get a letter or certificate which, in our experience, often satisfies the requirements of biblical studies PhD programs on offer in North America and Europe, incl. Britain. In the Twin Cities, Goethe Institute approved exams incl. certification can be arranged locally. Where a university requires a language exam, students will find that the our courses prepare them well for such exams. Where necessary, customized teaching and learning for such exams is available.
